Schema Therapy
When things do not change so easily
Some patterns do not respond to simple solutions. Some patterns are far more deeply rooted, far more automatic, far more... you. And under certain conditions, they surface and there is nothing you can do about it. This is a deeper, core issue.
What Schema Therapy focuses on
Grounded in Schema Therapy, this approach examines the psychological patterns that formed early in your childhood, and the way they continue to influence how you think, feel, and relate to other people.
These patterns are not always obvious. They often surface automatically and feel familiar to you, almost like natural extensions of your psyche. And for that reason, they are very rarely questioned.
How this connects to the present
"Is it really possible that patterns and interpretations I had about the world as a small child are still active in the present?"
Well, yes.
They do not simply disappear because you grew up, nor because you understood them to some degree. They continue to operate silently in the background and to influence the way you react and make decisions.
This is actually the point where I see most people get stuck. Because the self-awareness and insight are there. And yet, something deeper continues to shape their path.
How Schema Therapy works
By focusing not only on the here and now, but also on a deeper understanding of how these patterns formed and how they continue to operate.
Through our work together, you will be able to recognise when a pattern is being activated. You will see clearly what it is trying to achieve, what it is trying to protect or maintain. And gradually, you will no longer find yourself inside it in the same way.
The practical side of Schema Therapy
In practice, this means slowing down the reaction. We slow things down as they happen, in real time, carefully examining how the response driven by your pattern unfolds, what it is trying to achieve, and how it affects the final outcome of the situation.
Over time, this extends beyond the session. You begin to notice these patterns as they happen:
- in conversations
- in split-second decisions
- in emotionally charged situations
- in stillness
And when you reach that point, the work ceases to be theoretical and becomes something tangible. Something you can recognise, engage with, question, and gradually respond to differently.
Where all of this ultimately leads
- Patterns in thinking and behaviour begin to loosen
- Feelings that once seemed overwhelming become easily manageable
- And situations that kept repeating with the same outcome unfold in an entirely different way
If certain patterns in your life do not change so easily, you can compare the session packages and decide whether this approach fits what you are looking for.
